You have two options if you want to sit for one of McAfee Institutes board certification exams. The first is you can attend the online training program which sets you up for success to sit for the exam. The second is you can challenge the exam by providing evidence that you already have the required skill sets and meet the eligibility requirements to sit for the exam.

If you want to challenge the exam you can purchase your exam license here. You will receive an application to complete and submit for approval prior to getting access to the exam.
Candidates who attend official training must meet the eligibility requirements and attend the online training and complete it with an 80% or better in order to take the Online Exam and earn the certification.

Candidates who do not attend official training must show experience in all five Domains via the application process in order to take the Online Exam and earn the certification.
Applicants who do not attend training must prove 5 years of information security experience in each of the 5 domains via the application form found here:

The application process can take up to six weeks depending on how quickly the verifier(s) listed on the application take to respond.

On the application, there is a section for the applicant to list verifiers for each domain.
Each domain for which the applicant is claiming experience needs to be verified by a supervisor, client, peer, or other individual in the position to respond regarding the applicant’s experience and expertise.
More than one domain may be verified by each verifier, so it is possible to list one verifier to verify all domains.
If the application is approved, the applicant will be sent instructions on purchasing a voucher from McAfee Institute directly.
McAfee Institute will then send the candidate the eligibility code and the voucher code which candidate can use to register and schedule the test.
If application is not approved, the application fee of USD 100 will not be refunded.
The approved application is valid for 3 months from the date of approval so the candidate must purchase a voucher within 3 months. After the voucher codes are released, the applicant has one year to use the codes.
Should you require the exam voucher validity to be extended, kindly contact firstname.lastname@example.org before the voucher expires. Only valid vouchers can be extended.
An application extension request will require the approval of the Director of Certification.
Students who took online training through an authorized partner (SkillSoft, for example) will need to provide certificates of completion (5 domains altogether) when requesting an eligibility code.
Candidates whose eligibility code does not match the details in the eligibility application and that bears a different voucher code than which was provided will not be certified.
McAfee Institute reserves the right to revoke the certification status of candidates who attempt this exam without a valid eligibility voucher number.
The course was engaging. The mix of reading, video and practical assignments helped to keep me engage in the course. The information provided are tested and proven techniques that will advance the skills of any beginner to intermediate Cyber investigator. In many areas the information is repeated for the intention of the student practice and use the information so they are proficient upon completion of the course.
